Calming Place Mediation and Infinity Card

For our last meeting of the summer, our neighborhood Creative Club spent some time meditating, writing, and making an infinity card of our favorite calming places.  My co-teacher Emily lead the kids in a meditation to start where they closed their eyes and imaged a place anywhere in the world where they felt calm.  She encouraged them to think of how it sounds, how it smells, and how it feels beneath their feet.  The kids then spent time writing about that place.

We then learned how to make an infinity card.  I learned how to make an infinity card from this YouTube tutorial.  Like most orgami projects, it is not necessarily complicated, but it takes time and concentration.

Once they had their cards created, they thought back to their favorite place and created four different drawings to remind them of their calming place.

It was neat to see all of the different places everyone chose to represent, and they were unique to each person.  The intention of making the infinity card with their calming place was to make a tool that they could use when they need to feel calm to fidget with and remind themselves of that place.
