Art History: History of Ceramics Museum

Whew!  Back to school season is in full swing and I just finished my first grad school assignment of the year for The Art of Education University.  This section I am taking  Studio Ceramics, and I am excited to learn more about clay.  As a teacher and artist, I pretty much feel confident in every other medium, but clay I know next to nothing about so I am here for it.

Our first assignment was to create a classroom tool to use to enhance our student’s understanding (and ehem, mine) of Ceramics History.  I created an interactive History of Ceramics Museum to help kids learn while they play!  Check it out!

Here is what it would look like when it is all set up:

I created a binder with information about each major historical pottery movement.  One great thing about pottery and ceramics is that it can be found all over the globe by many different types of people.  I wanted to be able to showcase this and made sure to include a map.

Each page had removable pottery pieces that could attach onto the Velcro on the easels.
