Our neighborhood Creative Club joined the International Sew a Softie month by sewing our own Pizza Stuffies! I just love teaching kids to sew and making functional art. We had a little help from Cassie Stevens and her wonderful Pizza Stuffie Sewing tutorial.
Not only was it fun to join the international sew a softie month, but it also reiterated the importance of fiber arts in the art room. The tactile experience and real-life skills sewing teaches are so (or, eh hem, sew) important!
Check out these cute slices, it had me craving pizza for supper!
In the kit I included:
- 10 stick pins
- Pin Cushion
- 2 needles stuck in a piece of felt
- Magnetic wand for picking up dropped needles and pins (popsicle stick with magnet)
- 2 paper needle threaders
- Pre-cut thread
This was an easy way for the kids to keep track of their supplies, and to ensure that we did not leave any pins or needles behind. I had a small group so it was easy to keep track of supplies, but would consider having a checkout sheet for the kits to know exactly where everything is going and that it will be returned.
